Hannah's Cake

I made a cake for my niece's birthday.  She wanted a pink cake with pink frosting and pink and purple flowers.  I think she might like pink and purple, but I'm not sure.  I had a little bit of a tough time with some of the flowers because my waxed paper kept moving.  It was slightly frustrating.  I think the whole thing turned out pretty well though and Hannah was in love!!

Spencer's Cake

I was asked to make a cake for a boy from church.  He picked out a monkey cake and sent me a picture but then wanted it a little more customized.  He requested brown on top, red on the sides with his age in white on the front and his name in bright yellow wrapping around the rest of the cake.  This was my first time making figures and I was a little nervous but it was actually a lot of fun!!  Happy birthday Spencer!!

This is the picture I was sent

This is what I made for him

Thanksgiving Cupcakes

These are some turkey cupcakes that I made for Thanksgiving.  They are yellow cake with vanilla frosting.  I used a caramel squares softened in the microwave.  Flatten them into a disc to place over the top of the cupcakes.  The drumsticks are caramel around a pretzel.  The lettuce is cornflakes covered in tinted and melted frosting.  The stuffing is grapenuts.  Cute, huh?

Making Cakes

I make cakes.  This has so far been just a hobby but  I'm working on making it more than that.  I'm going to use this blog to showcase my cakes.  I guess you could say this is my bragging spot.  I love making cakes!!  I love the joy I get when I see what I have accomplished and I love the smiles it brings when people see the cake I have made for them.  I hope you enjoy looking through my blog.

This cake was made for my friend's daughter's birthday.  It's a chocolate cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting.  It is decorated with buttercream stars and gumpaste tulips and leaves.
